Continuity kit
- What is kept
- What was tried and failed, assumptions that proved wrong, decisions and reasons
- A failed approach
- Never retried without asking you
- A measured number
- The command next to it is run again before anyone relies on it
If your AI agent, the software that does work for you on the computer, forgets halfway through a long task what it already tried, and fails at exactly the same spot, you're not alone.
Where you are now
Could the problem be something other than the agent? When the chat fills up, the agent replaces everything that was said with a short summary, to make room to keep going. That is called compaction. The summary keeps what happened: what you asked for, which files changed, where you stopped. It loses what was learned.
The approach that was already tried and failed, the assumption that turned out wrong, the number that was measured and the command behind it: all of it is gone. So ten minutes later the agent imports the original file again, fully confident, and fails at exactly the same spot.
And it did not get less smart. It became someone who was not there, with the confidence of someone who was.

Who's talking to you: Axel Jedlitschka
It all started with an income and expenses table I wanted to build for myself in Excel. After I built a few versions in Excel, I moved to Google Sheets, and from there it kept growing.
While booking sales meetings by phone, I started building systems and automations, processes that run on their own, for business owners. I built a system for business forecast analysis, and it served the company's marketing and sales very well. That's where I realized I had knowledge every business needs. And a system that works for a business cannot forget halfway through what it already learned.

What to demand
Know that an approach that already failed is never tried again without asking you first.
See in one line that the agent actually read what it learned, before it touches anything.
Know that a number from an hour ago is checked again in a second, with the command that produced it, before anyone relies on it.
Know the agent can tell when a decision stops holding, instead of changing it for no reason or getting stuck with it.
Get a reminder at the right moment, so the file is written before the chat is cut down, not after.
There is a way
Before compaction, the agent writes what it learned into a file, a plain text document inside your project folder. After compaction, it reads the file before any action. The file is not compacted, so nothing in it is lost.
A summary tells you what happened. The file keeps the agent from making the same mistake twice.
The way, in one kit
Continuity kit · a kit by Axel Jedlitschka
When a long chat is cut down to a summary, your agent does not retry what already failed.

Yes. No credit card, and no part is held back for payment.
Yes. You unzip the file you downloaded, and from the folder it creates you run one command in the terminal, the window where you type commands to your computer: bash install.sh --with-hooks. Then you ask the agent for the file in plain language.
Each is at most 150 lines. If the project is in git, the tool that keeps the history of your files, the agent offers once to add the folder to .gitignore, since the files hold paths you may not want to share.
They stay as they are. The script adds three entries and keeps a backup, and the uninstall removes only those three.
The method works with any agent that reads an instruction file, such as Codex, Cursor or Gemini CLI: you paste the block from AGENTS.md. The reminders are for Claude Code only, so elsewhere you remember the moment yourself.
Run bash install.sh --uninstall. The continuity files in your projects stay yours.
Your details are used to send you the kit and to follow up on it. Marketing messages are sent only if you ticked the consent box, and you can unsubscribe at any time. You can also ask to see, correct or delete your details.
